Separation

This is a project from graphic design II.  In this class we had to choose a cultural issue to be the subject of all of our work for this semester. We will be doing variations upon this theme throughout the course.  I chose the crisis faced by American farmers as the failing economy has caused them to have to leave their land.  This first assignment required that we use three different design techniques described in chapter 1 of our text book
"Type, Image, Message."

Stringbean

This was a two person branding project for a children's clothes store.  We had to come up with an educational clothing line that would interest children and parents alike.  We came up with "Stringbean" A clothing store where children learn everything that there is to know about what goes into their clothes.  There would be stations where they could look at fabrics close up and play within the store.  We had to create everything from logos to magazine advertisements, and letterhead to clothing tags.  Here's a preview of this branding project from graphic design 1.

Political Statement

This assignment for graphic design 1 involved researching modern politics and designing a 3-dimensional piece that made a statement about them.  We had to do 2 pieces making one positive and one negative political statement.  Our negative piece we titled "Presidential Pageantry" symbolizing the absurd amount of emphasis put on appearance in the 2008 presidential election.  The second has to do with the regeneration and growing self sufficiency in Africa.  Africa is beginning to overcome it's poverty and hunger problems by teaching their people how to be more self sufficient agriculturally.  The plant, formed by the African flag, has begun planting it's own seeds.

Road Signs

This was an assignment for a computer graphics class I took my sophomore year.  It involved taking the typical idea of a road sign and adding a humerous twist.  This was one of my first experiences with Adobe Illustrator, it basically changed my life and now I can't live without it!

This was a nature study we did in my 2-d design class.  We chose a fruit and created a book detailing the visual aesthetics of that fruit.

Imagination Figure Drawing

This was my final exam project for Anatomy drawing. We had to had to create a surrealistic picture created completely from our imagination and without visual aid. Our only requirements were that we had to incorperate human form into it.

Luba Lukova Interpretation

This was my final exam projet for Intro to the Graphic Profession. We had to create a poster that presented information about a graphic designer in the style of the designer. My designer was Luba Lukova. To represent Lukova's technique I used bold dark image and handwritten type.
